Dosing Information

  • You diet (especially how much fat you eat)
  • How you respond to the medication.

Side Effects of Viokace

Just like any medicine, Viokace can cause side effects. However, not everyone who takes the drug will experience problems. Most people tolerate it quite well.
 
If reactions do occur, in most cases, they are mild and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.

  • Bile tract stones
  • Anal itching.

Important Information for Your Healthcare Provider

You should talk with your healthcare provider prior to taking this medication if you have:
 
  • Gout
  • Trouble swallowing tablets
  • High uric acid in the blood (hyperuricemia)
  • A history of intestinal blockage or other bowel problems
  • Kidney disease, such as kidney failure, or if you are on dialysis
  • Any allergies, including to foods, dyes, or preservatives.
