Warnings and Precautions With Tegaserod (Cont.)

Who Should Not Take Tegaserod?

You should not take tegaserod if:
 
  • You are allergic to tegaserod, Zelnorm, or any inactive component used to make the medicine. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients used to make this medication.
     
  • You have severe kidney problems, including kidney failure (renal failure).
     
  • You have moderate to severe liver problems, including liver failure (hepatic failure) or cirrhosis.
     
  • You have ever had a bowel obstruction (an intestinal blockage).
     
  • You have ever had gallbladder disease or sphincter of Oddi dysfunction (a problem of the pancreas and bile ducts).
