Sunitinib Dosage
Many factors affect your dosage of sunitinib, such as your current medications and which type of cancer you have. Your healthcare provider may increase or decrease the amount based on how you respond to your particular dosing regimen. Sunitinib comes as a tablet and is taken at the same time each day, with or without food.

The dose of sunitinib (SUTENT®) your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on a number of factors, including:
- The reason you are taking the medication
- How you respond to it
- Other drugs you may be taking.
As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.
The standard dosage of sunitinib for the treatment of advanced RCC (kidney cancer) is 50 mg once a day for four weeks, followed by two weeks without medicine. After the two-week break, sunitinib will be restarted with another four-week-on/two-week-off cycle. The cycles will continue until treatment is no longer recommended.
The standard dose of sunitinib for the treatment of GIST (a rare cancer of the stomach, intestines, or esophagus) is 50 mg once a day for four weeks, followed by two weeks without medicine. After the two-week break, sunitinib will be restarted for another four-week-on/two-week-off cycle. The cycles will continue until treatment is no longer recommended.
