Sunitinib Dosage

Many factors affect your dosage of sunitinib, such as your current medications and which type of cancer you have. Your healthcare provider may increase or decrease the amount based on how you respond to your particular dosing regimen. Sunitinib comes as a tablet and is taken at the same time each day, with or without food.

An Introduction to Your Dosage of Sunitinib

The dose of sunitinib (SUTENT®) your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on a number of factors, including:

  • The reason you are taking the medication
  • How you respond to it
  • Other drugs you may be taking.

As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

Sunitinib Dosing for Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors (GIST)

The standard dose of sunitinib for the treatment of GIST (a rare cancer of the stomach, intestines, or esophagus) is 50 mg once a day for four weeks, followed by two weeks without medicine.
