Sigmoidscopy

Were you looking for information about Sigmoidoscopy? Sigmoidscopy is a common misspelling of sigmoidoscopy.

Sigmoidoscopy is a type of procedure used for determining the cause of bowel changes or for screening for cancer. This procedure is similar to a colonoscopy, but it only examines the last third of the colon and rectum (a colonoscopy examines the entire colon). A sigmoidoscopy only takes about 10 to 20 minutes. Although rare, complications of this procedure may include puncturing the colon or bleeding.
