Prepopik Drug Interactions

Diuretics
If you are taking a diuretic medication, you may have a higher risk for potentially serious electrolyte abnormalities due to Prepopik. Your healthcare provider may suggest a blood test to measure your electrolyte levels before and after your colonoscopy. Also, some diuretics can decrease kidney function, which increases your risk for serious Prepopik side effects.

NSAIDs
If you are taking an NSAID medication, you may have a higher risk for potentially serious electrolyte abnormalities or kidney problems due to Prepopik. Your healthcare provider may suggest a blood test to measure your electrolyte levels before and after your colonoscopy.

Oral Medications Taken Within One Hour of Prepopik
Prepopik is a laxative. Any oral medication taken during your bowel prep (starting within one hour before the first dose of Prepopik and continuing until your colonoscopy) could be flushed out of the gastrointestinal tract before being absorbed by the body.

Avoid taking any oral medications, vitamins, or supplements within one hour of starting Prepopik and while you are using this product. If you will miss a medication dose because of Prepopik treatment, talk to your healthcare provider or pharmacist about when you should take the missed dose.

Some medications should be taken at least two hours before or six hours after Prepopik, as they could potentially bind to the magnesium in it. These medications include many antibiotics, iron supplements, digoxin, penicillamine, and chlorpromazine.

SSRIs or SNRIs
If you are taking a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) or serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) medication, you may have a higher risk for potentially serious electrolyte abnormalities due to Prepopik. Your healthcare provider may suggest a blood test to measure your electrolyte levels before and after your colonoscopy.
