NuLYTELY Pharmacology
If you have an upcoming colonoscopy, your healthcare provider may prescribe NuLYTELY® (polyethylene glycol electrolyte solution). This medication is consumed before your procedure and helps to cleanse the bowels. But what is the pharmacology of NuLYTELY and how does it work?
NuLYTELY is an osmotic laxative. It works by drawing water into the colon, which softens the stool and causes frequent, watery bowel movements. These bowel movements usually cleanse the bowel within four hours.
(For more information on the pharmacology of this laxative, click NuLYTELY. This article offers a complete overview of how NuLYTELY works, possible side effects, dosing tips, and general safety precautions.)
