If you are breastfeeding, NuLYTELY® (polyethylene glycol electrolyte solution) may not be suitable for your particular situation. This prescription laxative is used to empty the bowel before a colonoscopy. Because it is not known whether NuLYTELY passes through breast milk, make sure to talk with your healthcare provider before taking this laxative while nursing a child.
No research has been done to see if NuLYTELY passes through breast milk. It is expected that this laxative passes through the body without being absorbed. Therefore, it would not be likely to reach the breast milk, or pass to a nursing infant. However, because NuLYTELY has not been studied in women who are breastfeeding, all potential problems cannot yet be ruled out.
