NuLYTELY® (polyethylene glycol electrolyte solution) is a type of laxative available by prescription only. It is approved for use prior to having a colonoscopy procedure and works to empty the bowels by causing frequent, watery bowel movements.
 
This medication comes in the form of a powder that is dissolved in water. Normally, eight ounces of the mixed solution are consumed every 10 minutes until four liters are consumed or bowel movements are watery and clear. Before taking the laxative, you should talk to your healthcare provider if you have inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal blockage, or difficulty swallowing.
