MoviPrep and Nausea

MoviPrep® (polyethylene glycol electrolyte solution) is a prescription medicine approved for cleansing the bowels before a colonoscopy procedure.

Several side effects have been reported with MoviPrep, and nausea is one of the more common problems. In clinical studies, nausea occurred in 47.3 percent of people using MoviPrep.

Although most reactions to this medication tend to be minor and easily treated, serious problems can also occur. Contact your healthcare provider if you experience signs of a bowel obstruction, such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal (stomach) pain, and abdominal swelling (distention).

(Click MoviPrep Side Effects for more information about nausea and other MoviPrep side effects. This article discusses other common problems that have been reported with this laxative, as well as potentially serious problems that require immediate medical care.)
