Side Effects of Misoprostol

While most people tolerate misoprostol (Cytotec®) well, side effects can occur in some people. Clinical trials showed that some of the most commonly reported side effects of misoprostol included:
 
  • Diarrhea
  • Abdominal (stomach) pain
  • Nausea.
 
Fortunately, most reactions to this drug are minor and easy to treat. However, potentially serious reactions can occur and may require medical treatment. Contact your healthcare provider right away if you develop serious problems, such as:
