MiraLAX Powder

Available without a prescription, MiraLAX® (polyethylene glycol 3350) is a type of laxative used to treat occasional constipation. It comes in one strength -- MiraLAX Powder for Solution. It is available in premeasured, single-dose packets and in multidose bottles containing 7 doses (119 grams), 14 doses (238 grams), and 30 doses (510 grams).

MiraLAX powder is dissolved in four to eight ounces of liquid and swallowed by mouth once a day. It can be mixed with any cold, hot, or room-temperature beverage, such as juice, water, coffee, or tea.

As a type of osmotic laxative, MiraLAX works by drawing water into the colon, making the stool soft, and increasing the number of bowel movements. It will usually cause a bowel movement in one to three days.
