Childhood Dosing for MiraLAX

MiraLAX® (polyethylene glycol 3350) is a laxative approved for relieving occasional constipation in adults. However, this laxative is sometimes used off-label to treat constipation in children. If your child's healthcare provider recommends MiraLAX, follow his or her specific childhood dosing instructions.

This laxative comes as a powder, which should be dissolved in four to eight ounces of liquid and swallowed by mouth. It is usually used once a day. It may take up to four days after a child starts using this product to have a bowel movement. Do not give more than the standard dosage if this happens. Also, do not give a child MiraLAX for more than seven days unless a healthcare provider tells you to do so.
