When and How to Take It

Some general considerations include the following:
 
  • This medication comes in capsule form. It is taken by mouth once a day.
  • Take this medication in the morning with water only, at least one hour before eating anything.
  • Swallow the capsules whole; do not chew or crush the capsules. Do not open the contents and sprinkle on food.
  • Make sure to take this medication at the same time each day to keep an even level of the medication in your blood.
  • For the medication to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed.
     

Dosing Information

There is only one standard dosage for this medication. As is always the case, do not adjust your dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.

Side Effects of Zegerid OTC

Just like any medicine, Zegerid OTC can cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the drug will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well.
 
If reactions do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
