If you are going to have a colonoscopy, a healthcare provider may prescribe TriLyte® (polyethylene glycol electrolyte solution) in order to cleanse the bowels. This medication is a type of laxative that is typically started the evening before the scheduled procedure. It is a generic version of NuLYTELY®.
Most people tolerate TriLyte well. However, as with any medication, side effects are possible. Some of the most commonly reported reactions to the laxative include anal irritation, nausea, and abdominal (stomach) cramping.
