As we've talked about before, every effort will be made to keep your private medical information confidential. All confidentiality laws that relate to your situation will be followed.
These laws do allow healthcare professionals to review and discuss your medical information with the transplant team. This is to make sure you stay as safe and healthy as possible during and after transplant surgery.
If you decide to be a liver donor, your name and necessary medical information will also be given to the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network and other agencies involved in liver transplantation. If you choose not to donate, the reasons for your decision will also be kept confidential.
