We've already mentioned a few of the financial issues you might face if you have liver donation surgery. However it's important that you fully understand how these issues may affect you.
If you have a job and won't receive a paycheck while you're recovering, it may make things difficult for you financially. If money is tight, you may have to get money from your savings or investments, borrow money from family members, or use a credit card to get through this time.
If you do experience financial difficulties, be sure to talk to the social worker on your transplant team. He or she can give you advice for working through these issues, and answer any questions you may have.
