Forest Linaclotide

Linaclotide (Linzess™) is a medication prescribed to treat irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C) and chronic idiopathic constipation (long-term constipation with no known cause). Linaclotide is made by Forest Pharmaceuticals, Inc. It is marketed by Forest Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and Ironwood Pharmaceuticals, Inc. This medicine is available in brand-name form only; generic versions are not available at this time.
 
Linaclotide comes as a capsule that is taken once daily on an empty stomach, preferably 30 minutes before your first meal. Although most people tolerate this medication well, side effects are possible and may include gas, diarrhea, and abdominal (stomach) pain.
