Bleeding from this procedure is rare. Most often, if bleeding occurs it is when a procedure such as taking a biopsy or removing a polyp is also performed. In most cases, this bleeding is minor. In rare cases, the bleeding is more serious and may require a blood transfusion, another endoscopic procedure, or rarely, surgery.
