When you leave the hospital you will be given specific instructions for driving, activity level, medication, and any further restrictions necessary.
You should be sure to have a friend or family member drive you home from your procedure because the drugs that make you sleepy during the procedure do impair your reflexes and judgment.
After these effects have completely worn off, you may resume your normal diet. However, you will not be able to go to work, drive your car, or operate any heavy machinery for the remainder of the day.
It is important that you alert your healthcare provider if you have any pain, black tarry stools or troublesome vomiting in the hours or days after the endoscopy.
