Risks of Colonoscopy

In general, a colonoscopy is a relatively safe procedure; however, there are certain risks that you should be aware of. Minor complications include nausea, vomiting, and dehydration. More serious complications include damage to the colon or rectum, bleeding, or serious infection. People with certain medical conditions, such as heart disease, seem to be at a higher risk for problems than others.
