Colonoscopy? Colonospy is a common misspelling of colonoscopy.
A healthcare provider may perform a colonoscopy to help check for early signs of colon or rectal cancer, and also to determine the cause of unexplained bowel changes. This medical procedure involves inserting a long, flexible camera (a colonoscope) through the rectum and into the colon. This scope allows the healthcare provider to view any abnormal growths, bleeding, ulcers, or inflamed tissue.
